Welcome

Welcome to September.

Very soon the landscape around Boothbay will begin to change as the trees turn amazing shades of orange, gold, red and brown.
The children are back to school and life goes on.

We are now open from 7am to 7pm Monday thru Saturday
and 7am til 12 midday on Sundays.

C'mon in and see whats going on.

Unlike anything else that exists in the Boothbay area, the General Store offers a wonderful community experience where neighbors and friends meet.

Here you’ll find all kinds of epicurean delights from around the globe, such as cheeses from near and far, cured bacon from Kentucky and chocolates from Europe.
We serve a selection of freshly baked morning goodies, fruit pies, cracking good sandwiches, thin crust hand tossed pizzas and our selection of chowders changes daily.

The cooler and shelves hold an eclectic mix of world wines and beers, of which our oddbin wine selections are constantly changing.

We would like to welcome you in.

The store is open seven days a week from May 1st to Columbus day.  Opening at 7am sharp, the extractor fan blows the appetizing aroma of breakfast pizza's
cooking down route 96.
In the afternoon's you might find the aroma has changed to the sweet joy of peanut butter cookies being baked.

Arthur delivers the newspapers at a reasonable time every morning.  We sell the Boston Globe, New York Times, Financial Times, Portland Press Herald and Wall Street Journal.  The much loved and very well read Boothbay Register lands here every Thursday, it's the best way to know all the news and events taking place that week.

During every weekend in July and August the kitchen crew make donuts the old traditional way at a labor intensive five at a time rate.  Hand cut and deep fried, they taste great.
Compliment your morning donut with a cup of our own roast 'Route 96' coffee.

In 2008 we started to sell soft serve ice cream, long may this tradition continue!
We were shocked to learn that there are only 2 more places in the region that offer soft serve.  So as a result we go through a lot of ice cream!  Chocolate and Vanilla are the order of the day, a tradition on a hot day.

During the inclement weather of 2009 we had a great ice cream season.  It seems that nothing will stop people treating themselves to a cone.  I once read that New England exceeds the rest of the US for ice cream consumption. We love that idea.

This year we have several new products that will make the General Store the only place  for that soft serve experience. Watch for the breaking news.

As well as soft serve we are proud to sell a good selection of ice cream quarts tubs from the acclaimed Shain's of Maine based in Sanford.
They produce a rich creamy product which has fans coming back for more all year.
