With more than fifty types of Beers, Ales and Stouts on sale the store is a mecca on the coast for that interesting hard to find brew.  We pride ourselves on finding a good mix of the everyday 'must have' beers to the far flung breweries of the world.  

From Japan to Belgium and back to Maine we carry singles, six packs, to larger packs ideal for that boating trip. Your favourite and yet to be discovered are waiting for you in our chiller.

If your having a celebration like a wedding or party and require more than a few six packs we can help.  Come and talk to us about arranging a keg to make that occasion go with a swing. We'll keep it chilled until your ready to collect. 
If you just need a case or two we can generally supply you that week and you'll always get a case discount.

We have a small but exciting range of domestic and foreign beers in 750ml bottles, these high quality brews are the equivalent of 'quality over quantity, they give the serious drinker a taste of brewed perfection.  Current staff faves are the Biere du Gard from France. Golden in color and rich in flavor these country beers evoke green fields toiled after a long day.
Some of the high quality 750ml beers from Canada have proved very popular in the last two years.  Check out a bottle of Chambly Noire when you get a chance. 

After recent requests we are now stocking popular domestics in cans.

Looking for a good micro brew.  We've got you covered with a small but selective choice from such renowned local hot bed brewers like Allagash and the folk at Pemaquid Ale.

Portland Maine is represented by the export styled Shipyard Ale.  We carry the wicked popular Shipyard Summer for as long as we can get it.  Hurry as these seasonal brews always disappear fast towards the end of the summer.

Ah, wines.......no where shall we begin?   The store has earned a reputation for supplying an eclectic mix of wines over the last few years.  Thanks to our democratic approach and not taking ourselves too seriously we have fostered a policy of tasting as many wines as we can get hold off.  This is not to say that proper store work gets left out, more like having a store with knowledgeable staff who have actually tried the wine your thinking of taking home. 

Thanks to a sympathetic bunch of wine suppliers who understand our thinking.  We're continually seeking wine's buried in a corner of a warehouse, the one they forgot about, maybe with just a season left.  This approach has brought us many a fine wine deal that our customers have really enjoyed.  A kind of Oddbin situation. Odd wines from different vineyard bins. 

Sourcing great tasting wines and putting them out with descriptive captions and letting the customer decide.  That's how we do it.

Last year we were able to purchase large stocks of wines, these purchases allowed us to sell wines incredibly cheap.  Keep an eye open for these incredible bargains, some are never to be repeated while others are promoted at the whim of the shipper & distributors.

During 2009 it was noted by an avid wine drinking friend from California that the Store didn't in his opinion carry enough fine wines from the Napa region. 

This was quickly solved by us stocking such excellent offerings from great vineyards like Chateau Montelena and Cakebread Cellars.  In all we currently stock about a dozen prestigious wines of distinction. 

In 2010 we're hoping to catch a few bottles of the most recent vintage from the wine makers at Opus One. Fingers crossed we get some!

The General Store is always up for supporting local Maine business's and one of the most popular sodas we sell is from the Maine Root Company.  After spending time in the Caribbean Liz and Dom wanted to sell a Ginger Beer that actually tasted like it had ginger in it. 

After trying several other types we were really happy to discover that we had a company in our own back yard that made such a drink.
